To me, texture is what makes life interesting.
I’ve always been fascinated by natural architecture. As a child, throughout the day I would feel the intricate surfaces of rocks and twigs in my pockets that I had collected.
Later in life, on a trip to the Costa Rican jungle, my tactile obsession developed into a desire to somehow wear texture. This curiosity lit my passion for sculpting jewelry.
Every piece I make begins with a natural texture. Each piece is hand-carved, casted and finished in small batches in California. I sculpt, metal-smith and finish all jewelry in my Los Angeles studio and castings are made in San Francisco.
The Sea Shapes Collection was inspired by perfectly imperfect, repeated shapes seen along the California Coast. I chose the lightening whelk and coralline plant for their textural palette and spiritual symbolism.
